Drama Performance
The 2nd cohort of MA in English students of Yonphula Centenary College curated a plethora of dramatic performances on the evening of 18 October 2019 at the Sherubtse College’s Lecture Theatre. Four groups performed four plays that spanned from the 17th -20th century. Hamlet by William Shakespeare bagged the first place and The School for Scandal by Richard Brinsley Sheridan took second place. The Birthday Party by Harold Pinter and Murder in the Cathedral by T.S Eliot were awarded consolation prizes. Mr Rinchen Sherab, who played the lead role of Hamlet was awarded the Best Actor Male Award and Ms Malati Sunar was awarded best Female Actor for enacting the role of Lady Teazle. The performances under the guidance of Dr Sayan Dey were showcased to the audience consisting of faculties and students of Sherubtse College and Yonphula Centenary College. The performances practised over a span of almost three months were received graciously and the students were highly applauded for their creativity.
